George Christensen on tying terrorism to Islam:
“We are starting to see the incursion into this country of the violent extremism that is coming out of radical Islam. It concerns me, and it concerns me greatly. What concerns me even more than that is the refusal of people in positions of leadership to call it out. It might be politically incorrect to do so; it might be jarring; it might be confronting and offensive to some people here. But it is also reality…. I get so distraught seeing someone in leadership saying that this had nothing to do with Islam. They are wrong. They are dead wrong. It has everything to do with Islam.”

And now that Reclaim Australia leader Phillip Galea is facing terrorism charges? Christensen:
“There is no leader of Reclaim Australia. It was not an incorporated group but an organic movement that’s since dissipated. This clown you talk of is no better than the terrorists I oppose who kill in the name of Islam. Anyone who seeks to harm someone to further a cause is to be condemned.”

I rather thought that we were creating our own extremism by divisive politics, biased media and oppressive legislation.

Those who mingle with morons tend to lower their standards – Galea should have known better than to let Christensen anywhere near him.
So, Reclaim has dissipated has it? Well, we all know that some pollies have a very special skill with semantics and language nuance. According to recent posts on their facebook page, a concern is that Galea is referred to as a ‘member’ of Reclaim and they don’t have such a structure. Typical hair splitting. Anyway, the volume of traffic across their fb and those of fellow travelers suggest they and their ideas are hanging about like the thickest of winter’s briny fogs rather than dissipating like a morning mist in spring.
